Rescue Residents

In general, these dogs would be deemed unadoptable by a pound or shelter and would be at extreme risk for euthanasia. Many, often due to their age, are also visually or hearing impaired. We firmly believe in the loving worth of shy, senior, and geriatric dogs. We provide a loving final home care for dogs in end-stage illness, providing them with love and comfort for whatever time they have left. All of our dogs receive around the clock care, endless love and enrichment.

These dogs are generally not available for adoption as they remain with our loving and amazing team of hospice and specialized care homes; spending their days happy and safe in permanent care with MO Wiggle Butts. Some others serve important jobs within the rescue that we couldn’t do without! We are extremely blessed to have several hospice homes able to give these dogs the love they deserve in their final years but we are always looking for more homes to join our team!

Interested in sponsoring or being a hospice home for a dog? Please let us know! We provide medical and veterinary support, food, kennels and whatever you need to make their final days the best days. If you would rather donate to help us keep them comfortable, we always appreciate our donors of money or supplies!

Long Term Residents

Brother Hound
7 Years Old
English Foxhound Mix

Despite several years in our care, Brother Hound is still almost completely feral. He was originally trapped by Clinton Animal Control after running wild with his sister. He’s learned that certain people may be safe but he’s definitely not settling down into a domestic life anytime soon.

Brooklyn
1 Year Old
Chow Chow Mix

Abandoned as a puppy and left to fend for her own, Brooklyn is extremely fearful of everyone and everything. She took a long time before she could open up to anyone and is a poor candidate for adoption. In her foster home, she works a little everyday to become a more trusting dog.

Chloe
15 year old
Cocker Spaniel

There’s few dogs as sweet as our dear Chloe. Chloe spent the first years of her life on a chain in her own filth and sadly her skin still shows the years of abuse. Chloe has a severe heartworm infection where it is no longer advisable due to her age and severity to treat. She is currently living out her time in a loving hospice home.

Puppy Support Team:

These dogs are permanent residents at MO Wiggle Butts that help to raise our puppies, teach social skills, and provide a support bridge for orphaned puppies to learn from!

Pongo
1 Year Old
Terrier Mix

Pongo is as stubborn as he is cute and managed to drive potential adopters away with his outright refusal to be a good house dog. Instead he found his calling in life at the rescue as Uncle Pongo to many puppy litters. He teaches great play and doggie social skills and gives our mama dogs a much needed break!

Ruby
10 Year Old
American Staffordshire Terrier

Ruby is a very affectionate pittie mix, who first came with a litter of puppies! Now in her senior years, Ruby is enjoying her retirement, although that doesn’t stop her from trying to play mom with orphaned puppies! Ruby can often be seen rolling in a nice pile of dirt, or trying to sneak her way into going for car rides!

For some dogs, the rescue serves as a final resting place.

We love them dearly and remember them as they cross the rainbow bridge.
